POSITION:
Digital Organizing Intern
POSITION TYPE:
Full-time 6 month with a possibility of extension
LOCATION:
Richmond, Hampton Roads or Remote
DESCRIPTION:
New Virginia Majority is looking for a digital organizing intern to help implement digital strategy at the policy, political and organizing level, grow social media presence and engagement, and support and build campaigns and organizing efforts. This position is a 6 months temporary position with the possibility to extend.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support staff in maintaining robust presence on all digital platforms including email, social media and website, producing compelling, timely content
- Support digital campaigns strategies to grow online membership and engagement of our online supporters in taking action.
- Help drive social media, email, online advertising strategy
- Develop strategies aimed at targeting, building and retaining membership segments based on issue, campaign, demographic and other variables to deepen activism and engagement among members with specific interests
- Track, understand and apply analytics and metrics to measure effectiveness of tools and strategies
- Support high quality and timely web site presence; ensure ease of navigation, message consistency, relevance and engagement opportunities for visitors.
- Support tracking metrics and trends
- Support building graphics for campaigns
- Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- At least 2 years experience creating high-quality digital content and campaigns to move people to take action.
- Excellent project management and time management skills: ability both rapidly respond to day-to-day needs while conceiving and implementing bigger projects over time

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salaries are competitive. Hourly pay is $17/hr with stipends for phone and transportation.

- Strengthen online fundraising

- Track, understand and apply analytics and metrics to measure effectiveness of tools and strategies
- Maintain high quality and timely web site presence; ensure ease of navigation, message consistency, relevance and engagement opportunities for visitors.

- Train and advise staff on digital communications strategy and social media best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience with HTML coding and CSS

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To build AAPI power in Northern Virginia through:
- Deep community organizing with working class Asians in Northern Virginia. Building local and state campaigns to win critical demands, including housing and healthcare.
- Alliance building and support to strengthen existing or emerging local AAPI organizations.
- Civic engagement to increase citizenship, voter registration and/or conscious voter turnout.
Additional responsibilities:
- ACE Program evaluation and reporting
- Represent ACE/NVM at national and funder meetings
- Supervise ACE organizers - including shared community outreach.

DESCRIPTION:
New Virginia Majority is looking to hire a full-time community organizer who will recruit, engage, activate and retain members, develop leaders, build community-based leadership teams, conduct political education trainings, and co-develop and execute campaign strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build strong relationships and identify and develop leaders into clear membership roles. Timely and aggressive follow up with leads generated by field efforts including one-on-one meetings, house visits and other methods of grassroots outreach.
- Strengthen existing organizing and develop new campaigns working with Northern Virginia’s AAPI communities.
- Manage regular membership meetings and support new leaders to facilitate meetings geared towards peer engagement and immediate activation.
- Create actions, training and mobilization opportunities in order to activate members and activists, build power, and win campaigns.
- Mobilize and use a database to track engagement of members and activists at various events and field opportunities.
- Develop the political consciousness of the affiliate organizations’ leaders through popular education, reflection, leadership development and developing appropriate educational materials.
- Provide support to leaders.
- Participate in campaign development, strategizing and implementation.
- Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Committed to New Virginia Majority’s mission of social, racial and economic justice.
- Experience with grassroots organizing.
- Ability to develop and maintain a variety of relationships on multiple levels.
- Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines; able to develop and move projects forward with independence and autonomy.
- Self-motivated and works well both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, manage multiple projects.
- Ability to take direction and constructive feedback.
- Driver’s license and access to a car.
- A minimum one-year commitment to the position.
- Experience organizing immigrant communities is preferred.
- Must speak English; Proficiency in one or more of the following preferable: Bengali, Mongolian, Nepalese, Hindi, Urdu, and / or Vietnamese.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salaries are competitive. Salary range is $38,000 - $42,000, commensurate with experience, and comes with an excellent benefits package, including health, vision, dental, and stipends for phone and transportation.
